Roger Nelson former director of audits for the royalty audit division of the state's school land office was indicted by a grand jury for embezzling more than $1.16 million. Nelson was indicted on 174 counts of embezzlement.

Allegedly the accused had a gambling problem that led to unlawful activities. This man is probably one of many officials in the state government that has broken the law. I believe that if he is found guilty of these crimes he deserves a long prison sentence.

He wasted taxpayers money and took money from the school system. Anyone who works for a government agency should be held to a higher standard of law. If they break laws of the system that they are supposed to represent then they need to be held accountable.

I hope that this man serves as an example to other government officials who abuse their power.
